SCIENCE ADVENTURE SCHOOL

At Science Adventure School, your child’s imagination will run wild.

The 4-day, 3-night program offered at the beginning of a student's 6th grade year combines adventures in the outdoors with hands-on STEM and environmental science learning.

With experiential education being a focus, SAS will get students out of their comfort zones, meet new friends, face new challenges, and find the scientist that lies within! This adventure-based, outdoor science school is dedicated to empowering and educating West Virginia’s youth, and takes place in multiple scenic locations throughout the state including the wonderful (and we mean wonder-full!) mountains of the New River Gorge area.

Ali Jeney

Director

After completing her undergraduate degree in Geology and landing a job in Houston, Ali Jeney’s interests led her to become a trip guide for Yellowstone National Park where she worked educating and leading visitors through the park's vast and beautiful terrain. Realizing her passion for science, education and the outdoors, Ali made her return to WVU to complete a master's degree in education while she worked as a graduate assistant for the Outdoor Recreation Center. Now, as the director of Science Adventure School, Ali oversees development and operations and shares her excitement for the outdoors with the youth of West Virginia. She works every day to improve the extraordinary place she calls home. Her favorite outdoor activities in the Mountain State are canoeing, backpacking and getting her skills up on beginner mountain biking trails.
